2 Corinthians 4-7

That the Life of Jesus Also May Be Manifested in Our Mortal Flesh

2 Corinthians 4:7-11 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

Though God created our bodies from dust and subject to decay, our earthen vessels are designed to house His Holy Spirit. To dust our bodies are destined to return and yet, if we have been given the awesome gift of God's Spirit, we shall be raised from death and given eternity. Therefore, we must separate ourselves from wickedness and darkness and every unclean thing, for ow is the day of God's favor, the day of salvation. We must purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. And God will receive us and we will be His people. He will be a Father to us and we will be His Sons and daughters. If the Spirit of God dwells in us, we are a new creation in Christ. The old has gone and the new is here if anyone is in Christ. And the One who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us to Himself.
