Psalms 120-124

Our Help Is in the Name of the LORD

(Day 41 of the Omer)

Psalm 124:6-8 Blessed be the LORD, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.

Prayer:

Our Father, I pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces." For the sake of my brethren and companions in Israel, I now pray, "Peace be within you." Because of the house of the LORD our God I seek their good. "If it had not been the LORD who was on our side," let Israel now say-- "If it had not been the LORD who was on our side when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive. When their wrath was kindled against us; then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul; then the swollen waters would have gone over our soul." Let us lift our eyes up to the hills from whence comes our help. Our help comes from Yehovah who made heaven and earth. Yehovah is our keeper; He shall preserve us from all evil; He shall preserve our soul. Yehovah shall preserve our going out and our coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.

Daily Scripture reading is a deeply impacting pursuit and habit. And if you can make the time, journaling the Scripture will facilitate interaction with God and is a powerful tool for internalizing His Word. This Bible reading program is unique in that it strives for a flow of thought and context while accenting timely Biblical teachings, important Biblical events and the Biblical Feasts of the LORD.

Scheduled to coincide with the Torah Portions each Sabbath and the rest of the Bible on the remaining days of the week, the Daily Bible Reading Journal will cover the entire Bible over the course of a year.

1) The Torah Portions read each Sabbath. The first five books of the Bible are known as the Torah. The Torah is traditionally divided into 54 portions and are read each Sabbath over the course of a year, beginning just after Sukkot (also known as the Feast of Tabernacles). 2) The readings on the remaining days of the week begin with the book of Joshua, following a somewhat historical flow while also accenting key Biblical events.

• Proverbs at the start of the Gregorian New Year
• Esther at Purim
• Matthew, Mark, Luke and John at the approach of Passover
• Song of Songs on the Sabbath during the Feast of Passover
• Psalms during the 50 days between Passover and Pentecost (counting of the Omer)
• Ruth on the Day of Pentecost
• Acts after the Day of Pentecost, continuing with the writings of the apostles
• Jonah on the Day of Atonement
• The Later Prophets as the Feast of Ingathering approaches
• Ecclesiastes during Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles)
