Acts 1-3

You Shall Be Baptized with the Holy Spirit

Acts 1:4-5 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

The disciples watched as Yeshua was taken up into the clouds. They stood spellbound until two men standing by them (dressed in white apparel) said, "Why are standing, staring into space? This Yeshua, who has been taken away from you into heaven, will come back to you in just the same way as you saw him go into heaven." John would later confirm in the book of Revelation, that which the men in white proclaimed. He wrote: "Look! He is coming with the clouds! Every eye will see him, including those who pierced him; and all the tribes of the Land will mourn him." (Revelation 1:7) Yet, this would not happen for quite some time. There was a work yet to be done. And to help with the work, Yeshua gave His servants a Helper, promised by the Father to all who repented and were baptized in the name of Yeshua the Messiah for the remission of sins. This wonderful and powerful gift was a promise to them, and to their children, and to all afar off, as many as the Lord our God would call. Our Father, thank You for the awesome gift of Your Holy Spirit. May we stir up this gift which is in us through the laying on of hands, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:6-7) May Your Spirit help us in our weakness and may it intercede for us when we don't know how to pray. (Romans 8:26-27) And may we bear the good fruit of the Spirit that we might bring much honor and glory to Your name. (Galatians 5:22-23)
