Acts 4-5

And They Were All Filled with the Holy Spirit

Acts 4:31-33 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

The reaction to the miraculous workings and powerful teachings by those filled with the Holy Spirit was mixed. Thousands heard and saw and believed and were baptized. But others sought to squelch the Spirit-filled movement by arresting the leaders. However, Peter and John and the others were not to be dissuaded. They boldly and courageously continued to preach the word of God. And they continued to work miraculous signs and wonders. All who came to them were healed and delivered of unclean spirits. Even the threat of execution did not dissuade the disciples. Rather they rejoiced because they had been considered worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name of Yeshua. Every day, both in the temple courts and from house to house, they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the good news that Yeshua was the Messiah. Dear Father, thank You for the amazing gift of the Holy Spirit. Pour Your Spirit down upon Your servants today so that a powerful work would be done. Let thousands and thousands see and hear and believe and be saved. And let Your servants be undaunted by threats and persecution. Rather let them boldly proclaim the good news to all, that Yeshua is Messiah, and enable them to do mighty works in His name for Your glory!
