Without a Parable He Did Not Speak to Them
Mark
4:30-34 Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or
with what parable shall we picture it? It is like a mustard seed which,
when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth;
but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and
shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under
its shade.” And with many such parables He spoke the word to them as
they were able to hear it. But without a parable He did not speak to
them. And when they were alone, He explained all things to His
disciples.
The disciples asked Yeshua why He spoke to the people in parables. (Matthew 13:10-17) Yeshua answered them saying, "Because it has been given to you to know the hidden truths of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand." Yeshua explained that this was a fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah who explained that many would see and not perceive; they would hear and not understand, because their hearts had grown dull. Dear Father, please give us hears to hear and eyes to see the hidden truths of the kingdom of heaven. Let not our hearts be dull nor our minds resist the truths of Your Words because of traditions and deceptive teachings by men. But like the seed that falls on good ground let us hear and accept Your words and bear much fruit.
