For This Purpose I Have Come Forth
Many expected Messiah to appear, and in the beginning of His ministry there was great excitement that Yeshua might be Him. For Yeshua taught with authority in the synagogues and He made well all who came to Him for healing. But there were many other things that Yeshua taught and did that troubled the religious authorities and challenged their core beliefs. Yeshua didn't follow the traditions of the fathers as they expected the Messiah to do. He didn't follow all the rules of keeping the Sabbath holy as determined by the Rabbis; His disciples didn't fast on the prescribed days of fasting as established by the fathers; and He ate and drank with tax collectors and sinners. Yeshua even had the audacity to tell someone that His sins were forgiven. Instead of questioning their own understanding they attacked the character of Yeshua and accused Him of doing miracles by the evil spirit of Satan. And they plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him. Our Father, may it never be that we would reject our Messiah when He comes again, because His appearing does not match our own expectations. With all humility, may we put to death our sacred cows and seek the truth in Your Word regarding Messiah, so that when He returns to take His rightful place as King upon His eternal throne, we will receive Him with joy. "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD! Hosanna in the highest!" May His coming be soon.
