Zechariah 7-8

Jerusalem Shall Be Called the City of Truth

Zechariah 8:2-3 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘I am zealous for Zion with great zeal; with great fervor I am zealous for her.’ Thus says the Lord: ‘I will return to Zion, and dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, the Mountain of the Lord of hosts, The Holy Mountain.’”

Just as the LORD was determined to bring calamity to Jerusalem and Judah when the people provoked Him to wrath, so He is determined to do good to them in the coming days ahead. "For the LORD has plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. (Jeremiah 29:11-13) Do not fear. These are the things you should do: speak truth to your neighbor; give judgment in your gates for truth, justice and peace; think no evil against your neighbor; and do not love a false oath. For all these things the LORD hates.  Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth. (Psalm 34:12-16) He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8) The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever. (Isaiah 32:17)
