Matthew 8-9

Who Can This Be, That Even the Winds and the Sea Obey Him?

Matthew 8:23-27 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

The Father gave Yeshua not only the authority to heal every kind of disease and cast out all evil spirits, but also the authority to forgive sins. (Matthew 9:6, Matthew 28:18) So when a paralytic was brought to Him for healing, Yeshua told him that his sins were forgiven, and to take up his bed and go home." Some scribes heard Yeshua say this and they said within themselves, "This man blasphemes." They said that only God can forgive sin. However, when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God who had given such power to men. May we also be found praising and glorifying God at the revelation of His Son Yeshua our Messiah; though we have not seen Him, we love Him, and though we do not see Him now, we believe in Him and greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of our faith the salvation of our souls. (1 Peter 1:7-9)  Thank You, Father, for giving us Your Son, and leaving Your Spirit 'til the work on earth is done!  There is a Redeemer, Jesus, God's own Son, precious Lamb of God, Messiah Holy One!
