Whose Son Is He?
Matthew
22:41-46 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said
to Him, “The Son of David.” He said to them, “How then does David in
the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at
My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool”’? If David then
calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his Son?” And no one was able to answer Him a
word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.
Yeshua told a parable about a certain landowner who leased his vineyard to vinedressers to care for it while he was away in a far country. When vintage-time drew near, the landowner sent servants to collect fruit. But the vinedressers beat them, killed them and stoned them. Finally the landowner sent his son to them because surely, they would respect him. But when they saw the son, they conspired together to kill him and seize his inheritance. The landowner in the story represented God; the vineyard represented the kingdom of God; the son was Yeshua; and the vinedressers were the chief priests and the Pharisees. Yeshua said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: 'The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. This was the LORD's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'? Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder." Our Father, praise be to You our God, and to Your Son, the precious Cornerstone of our faith. May we receive Him with humble hearts, that we may bring forth fruit worthy of repentance. (Matthew 3:8) God speed the day when at the name of Yeshua every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth; and when every tongue should confess that Yeshua, our Messiah is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)
