Leviticus 6:8-8:36

Tzav – Command

Leviticus 6:8-9 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering shall be on the hearth upon the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it.’”

The peace offering was unique in that both unleavened and leavened bread together was lifted up. The reason for unleavened bread to be included makes sense when considering the offering of the perfect Lamb sacrifice in which, while we were still sinners (represented by the leavened bread) Christ died for us. God demonstrated His own love toward us in that He justified us by the blood of His Son, whose willing and perfect sacrifice saved us from the God's wrath. (Romans 5:8) Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God (that is the fruit of our lips) giving thanks to His name. (Hebrews 13:15) Let us thank the LORD for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of man! And let us offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of His deeds in songs of joy! (Psalm 107:21-22) Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in our hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16) Praise Yehovah! Oh give thanks to Yehovah, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever! (Psalm 106:1) Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name! (Psalm 100:4) Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise Yehovah! (Psalm 150:6)
