How
Blessed are Those Who Dwell in Your House!
“Lovingkindness (mercy) and truth have met
together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other” (Psalms 85:10). I
love this verse! Mercy and truth are often mentioned together in the Psalms. “All
the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep His covenant and
His testimonies” (Psalms 25:10). “For Your mercy is great unto the heavens, and
Your truth unto the clouds” (Psalms 57:10). “But You, O Lord, are a God full of
compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth”
(Psalms 86:15). The Proverbs instruct us to bind kindness and truth around our
necks and to write them on the tablets of our hearts (Proverbs 3:3). Dear Father, thank You for revealing truth to us; Your Word is truth (John 17:17). Because we know that You cannot lie (Numbers 23:19) we can always trust in Your words and rely upon You. We know that You will never lead us astray. Yet, because we are human, it is our tendency to transgress Your words of truth and follow paths of deception that lead us away from You. How blessed we are that You are a God of mercy who forgives us when we transgress. You pity us when we fall. You help us back up. And You help us to walk forward. You are kind and loving and patient. Thank You for truth in which we may completely trust, but thank You also for compassion, that we may have a loving relationship with You.
