Trust
in Him at All Times
“How blessed is the one whom You
choose and bring near to You to dwell in Your courts. We will be satisfied with
the goodness of Your house, Your holy temple” (Psalms 65:4). Jesus said that no one can come to Him unless
the Father who sent Him draws them (John 6:44). And He told His followers that
they did not choose Him, but He chose them, and appointed them that they would
go and bear fruit, and that their fruit would remain (John 15:16). In his
letter to the Thessalonians, Paul wrote that God chose us as firstfruits to be
saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the
truth (2 Thessalonians 2:13). And to the Ephesians Paul wrote that in Christ we
were chosen, predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in
conformity with the purpose of His will, in order that we, who were the first
to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory (Ephesians
1:3-14). Peter wrote that we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy
nation, God’s special possession, that we may declare the praises of Him who called
us out of darkness into His wonderful light. “Once you were not a people, but
now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you
have received mercy (1 Peter 2:9-10). Dear Father, how blessed is the one whom
You choose and bring near to You to dwell in Your courts. How blessed we are, to
be Your own possession to the praise of glory! Sanctify us by the work of the
Spirit. May we bear much fruit, and may our fruit remain. And may we dwell
forever with You in the house of the LORD!
