The Holy Dwelling Places

No man can by any means redeem his brother or give to God a ransom for him—for the redemption of his soul is costly… (Psalms 49:7-8).  The redemption of our souls is an awesome thing to consider. Peter explained that, “you were not redeemed with the perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:17-21). God created us from the dust of the ground, yet with the potential of transformation into His glorious likeness. However, our fathers turned their backs on the ways of God that lead to life everlasting, choosing rather to follow their own desires – on a path that leads to death. But God did not give up on us. He established a plan to redeem our fallen souls (1 Peter 1:20). And He fulfilled His plan through His only begotten Son Jesus. Only Jesus could pay the price of our redemption – for only His sinless life was worth the cost. Imagine that, the One who had everything gave it all up to redeem us, so that we might share in His inheritance—in His glory—in life evermore with Him and the Almighty God. Dear Father, thank You. Thank You for Your Son, Thank You for caring for us, working with us, not giving up on us, and bringing us to glory because You love us. Help us to understand and appreciate Your love more fully. Help us to understand the cost of our redemption. And thank You, dear Jesus our Lord, for paying the price to redeem our souls from the power of Sheol (Psalms 49:15). Blessed be Your name! You are worthy of our honor and praise.
