Psalms 42-45

My Soul Pants for You
Jesus said, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink” (John 7:37). I am thirsty. Like Psalm 42 expresses so beautifully, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?” (Psalms 42:1-2). Jesus said that “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” This He spoke of the Spirit His followers would receive after He was glorified (John 7:38). Psalms 42 describes the flow of living waters in verses 7 and 8, “Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; all Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me. The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; and His song will be with me in the night, a prayer to the God of my life” (Psalms 42:7-8). Dear Father, fill us with Your spirit. It is a gift You say You will not deny Your children when we ask for it (Luke 11:13). Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6). May we be filled with Your righteousness and live in Your presence, now and forevermore.
