Your
Law is Within My Heart
Like David, I have experienced the
pit of destruction (Psalms 40). It is a terrible place to be. Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness have
engulfed me. Like David, my iniquities had overtaken me, so that I was not able
to see; “they were more numerous than the hairs of my head, and my heart had
failed me”. Being there made no sense. Why could I not get myself out of the
pit? I prayed and prayed, but still, I
remained in the pit. David said that he waited patiently for the Lord and
finally, the Lord heard his cry and brought him out of the pit, out of the miry
clay. And He set David’s feed upon a rock making his footsteps firm. “How
blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust!” Dear Father, when we experience
the pit of destruction – held fast by miry clay, please hear our cry for help
and deliver us. Make haste to help us. Put a new song in our mouth, a song of
praise – because You have freed us. May we testify of Your goodness, Your grace
and Your faithfulness. “Many, O Lord my
God, are the wonders which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; there is
none to compare with You. Your lovingkindness and Your truth will continually
preserve us”.
