My
Beloved is Mine
There are many varied perspectives about the
intended meaning of the Song of Solomon. On the surface it seems to me to be a story
about a very rich king (who is very good at making women fall in love with him)
and a stunningly beautiful young woman (whom Solomon perhaps found working in a
vineyard). They fell in love. Solomon already had 60 wives and 80 concubines.
But of course, she was the most beautiful and captivating of them all. I must
admit that I am a little cynical. However, there may be a deeper, more
spiritual meaning. Many scholars suggest that the passion Solomon expresses to his
lovely bride is likened to the passion the LORD feels for His people. The
spiritual perspective is much more satisfying for me because I can accept, that though
the bride of the Lord consists of many, each one of us are the most beautiful.
All of us together make up one beautiful bride. The Lord gave His life for each
one of us and is absolutely dedicated and faithful to all. And He not only
expects us to love Him above everyone and everything else in our lives, He
demands it (Luke 14:25-35). Dear Father, thank You for Your love. And thank You
for the amazing sacrificial love of Your Son. Thank You for not giving up on
me. Thank You for continuing to woo me and draw me into Your love. May my love
for You grow deeper and stronger and more intense. May I love You more than
anything and anyone else in my life. May I be Yours and may You be mine for
eternity.
