And
They, After Worshiping Him, Returned to Jerusalem with Great Joy
Jesus’ disciples had no doubt that Jesus was the One who was going to redeem
Israel. But when Jesus was arrested and beaten and crucified, they were
bewildered and confused. They had just declared that Jesus was their king with
a celebratory march into Jerusalem. But where was He now? A disabling shock
kept the disciples in a state of disbelief, even when people came to them three
days later, proclaiming that Jesus had risen. The reality that Jesus was alive
did not fully sink in until Jesus appeared personally to them. And He said, “O
foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!
Was it not necessary for the Messiah to suffer these things and to enter into
His glory?” How patient Jesus had to be with His disciples! And how patient He
must be with us! Dear Father, thank You for revealing to us that Your Son is
our redeemer, our Lord, and King. It is a miracle that we believe. Yet, there
are times when our faith may falter. Help us through these times. Please open
our eyes to see the big picture. And open our hearts to understand the things
that we must suffer while on the path to glory. Embrace us with Your love and
bless us with Your peace so that we may be filled with joy and praise. Blessed
be Jesus our King! And blessed be our loving Father. Thy kingdom come.
