The One who
baptizes in the Holy Spirit
John the Baptist testified that Jesus was the Lamb of
God who takes away the sin of the world; that Jesus existed before John (though
John was born before Jesus), that Jesus is the One who baptizes in the Holy
Spirit, and that Jesus is the Son of God. Because Jesus died a sacrificial
death on the cross, He paid the penalty of death for our sins. And because He rose from death and now sits at the Father’s right hand, we may receive the precious gift of the
Holy Spirit. This precious gift teaches us and guides us and empowers us. And
this precious gift transforms us from people subject to sin and death – to children
of the living God! Dear Father, thank You for Your Son. Thank You for His
sacrificial death so that we may be forgiven. Thank You for His resurrected
life so that we may receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. May Your Spirit teach
us and guide us and empower us so that we may walk in Your righteous ways and
bear much fruit. May Your Spirit transform us so that as Your children we may
live forever with You. Praised be Your most holy name and praised be the name of Your beloved Son Who gave up everything, to give us everything. How blessed we are! How awesome is His love!
