The Resurrection and the Life
“I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do You believe this?” Jesus asked Martha. He asked this after He had delayed in responding to her plea for help – arriving only after her brother Lazarus had been in the grave four days. Martha replied, “Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world.” Like Martha, perhaps we are grieving the loss of a loved-one and are somewhat discouraged because our prayers seemed to have gone unanswered. Or perhaps we are facing a terminal illness ourselves and our circumstances seem hopeless and we feel despair. Does Jesus really care? Does God really love us? Do we believe that God loves us so much, He rescued us with the life of His own Son? Jesus said that we will live – even if we die if we believe in Him. Jesus said that everyone who lives and believes in Him will never die. We shall live forever! Do we believe this amazing promise? Dear Father, in our times of grieving and uncertainty… even despair, help us to believe in Your love. Bring to remembrance the ultimate sacrifice You made on our behalf. Help us to believe and live in Your Son, our Messiah, Who came into the world to save us. Fill us with Your comfort and Your peace as we look forward to our resurrection and life with You and Your Son in Your kingdom forevermore.
