Zechariah 9-11

Your King is Coming to You

The people of Judah were not only besieged and oppressed by neighboring nations but led astray by those who were supposed to be their shepherds.  The LORD promised that one day He would be their Shepherd. Zechariah prophesied that the LORD will save them on that day as the flock of His people; “for they are like jewels in a crown, sparkling over His land. How lovely and beautiful they will be!”  Zechariah said that they would be strengthened in the Lord and in His name they will walk. And He told them to rejoice for their king was coming. “He is just and endowed with salvation, humble and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey… He will speak peace to the nations; and His dominion will be from sea to sea…” We read that Jesus fulfilled the first part of this prophecy in Matthew 21:1-5. The second part of this prophecy will be fulfilled at the end of the age when the seventh trumpet sounds. “Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever’” (Revelation 11:15). Dear Father, How I long for this day! How incredibly awesome it will be when all the world lives in peace and harmony under the reign of our Lord  and King, Jesus the Messiah. There will be one Lord, and we will be united by one Spirit and will live as one people under God. Dear Lord Jesus, come!
