They
Will Call on My Name
Zechariah prophesied that a day would come when the LORD would make
Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples, and all who lift it will be
severely injured. In that day all the nations of the earth will be gathered
against Jerusalem. It will be a terrible time. Two-thirds of the people will be
cut off and perish. The third part left will go through the fire but will be
refined as silver is refined and tested as gold is tested. The LORD will
pour out the Spirit of grace and supplication upon Jerusalem, “so that they
will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one
mourns for an only son…Then they will call on My name and I will answer them; I
will say, ‘They are My people.’ And they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”
Finally, Jerusalem will truly be the city of peace. Everyone in Jerusalem will
dwell in security and those left of the nations who had been her enemies will
go up to Jerusalem from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts,
and to celebrate the Feast of Booths. Dear Father, thank You for the hope of
the peace of Jerusalem when our Messiah shall reign. Help us to be ever mindful
of this hope when we experience the realities of a world filled with hatred for
Your beautiful city. May Your Spirit of grace keep us under the shelter of Your
wings and finally bring us to that day when all the world celebrates Jerusalem
as the city of our God!
