Jesus Returned to Galilee in the Power of the Spirit
We learn from Luke that Jesus was an incredibly astute and wise young man – even at the age of twelve. And as He grew, He kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. When Jesus was about 30 years old, He came to John the Baptist to be baptized to fulfill all righteousness (Matthew 3:3-15). And after this He began His ministry. He went to Nazareth, His hometown, and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood to read. The book of Isaiah was handed to Him and He read, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”  All eyes were fixed on Him and He said, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” And Jesus traveled around Judea, preaching the kingdom of God, “for I was sent for this purpose” He told the people. And He was praised by all. Dear Father, How desperately the world needs Your kingdom! Many around the world today are oppressed and abused by wicked people in high places. Many are trapped in lives of physical pain, mental anguish and harmful behaviors. They need hope for a better life. May those in bondage be set free! May the blind see, the deaf hear and the lame walk! May the favorable year of the Lord be soon. And may those who love You receive Your glorious kingdom where there will be no more pain, no more sorrow. Only joy and goodness and love forevermore.
