It
Will be Night for You
Micah speaks out against the priests
and prophets of his day for “instructing for a price” and “divining for money”.
They get paid for giving the people what the people want. Yet, in appeasing the
people, they lead them astray and thus declare holy war against God. But Micah is
a different kind of prophet with a different kind of message. Micah speaks in
the power of God’s spirit. He speaks with authority about the injustice of the
rulers, but also about the justice of God. He speaks words that do good to the one
walking uprightly but brings reproach upon the oppressor, the one who has
become an enemy of God. Throughout the Scripture, we see how the words and ways
of God discern the hearts of man. And we see that walking in the righteousness
of God results in good fruits of mercy, kindness and faith; but walking apart
from the righteousness of God results in covetousness, oppression and all kinds
of evil. Dear Father, thank You for the amazing treasure of Your Word so that
we may know what Your righteousness looks like! Thank You for Your Son, our Good
Shepherd, who goes before us and leads us on the path of righteousness into the
glory that awaits us! And thank You for the awesome the gift of Your Holy
Spirit! May we humble ourselves before You and submit to the work of
purification and refinement as You transform us into Your children who shall dwell in
peace and joy with You and Your Son forevermore.
