From
Zion Will Go Forth the Law
Micah’s prophecy for world peace could happen
only after another most significant event occurred: the coming of the Messiah –
and the establishment of His kingdom. Micah’s prophecy about the Messiah filled
the people with a hope of restoration and a longing for eternal peace. Micah told
them that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem and that “He would arise and
shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of
the Lord His God…This One will be our peace” (Micah 5:2-5). And it will come
about in the last days that the mountain of the house of the Lord will be
established as the chief of the mountains. Peoples will stream to it. Many
nations will come and say, “Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord and
to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us about His ways and that
we may walk in His Paths” (Micah 4:1-3). There will be no more war. Who is a
God like You, Dear Father, who pardons iniquity and passes over the rebellious
act of the remnant of His possession? You do not retain Your anger forever,
because You delight in unchanging love (Micah 7:18). Thank You. Thank You for loving
us and for the incredible vision and hope of world peace. Thank You for Your Son
– our Messiah. He is our peace! May He shepherd us in Your strength. May we
follow Him on Your paths. And may we do justice, love kindness and walk humbly
with You. God speed the day when the whole world will worship You and live
together in peace.
