Hosea 1-2

Go, Take to Yourself a Wife of Harlotry
The book of Hosea is an expression of God’s faithful love to an unfaithful people through an example we can relate to. It is impossible for human-kind to be faithful to God because human-nature is wired to respond to the power of the flesh. Like Gomer, the people of God kept seeking comfort and love in all the wrong places. And like Gomer, the more they sought other “lovers” the farther away they turned from God until eventually they were called, “Not My people”. But like Hosea, God is faithful in His love. No matter how often His people turned to other lovers, God sought to bring them back. Praise be to our God, who loves us so much, that He did not give up on us – but made a way for us to love Him back and remain faithful to him. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.  For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them” (Ephesians 2:4-10). Dear Father, thank You for Your amazing love and faithfulness. May we praise Your Wonderful name for Your kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. And may we respond to Your sanctifying work in us, so that we will walk in the good works You have prepared for us. And may we forever be called “Your people” children of the living God!
