What a wonderful instruction manual the
book of Proverbs is for assisting parents in teaching values to their children!
As our children grow into adulthood, they establish their own values from a
variety of sources, most often sources most invested in them. Parents who are fully
invested in their children and in teaching the values expressed in the Proverbs,
can be a very influential voice for the children's creation of their own set of
values that will guide them the rest of their lives. Parents who neglect to
teach their children subject them to the voices of others with their own
agendas. Dear Father, may we be the influential voices in the heads of our
children and even grandchildren. May we give them Your precious words to treasure
in their hearts and draw from when they face the challenges in life that they are
certain to encounter. May we be good stewards of the precious lives You have
entrusted to us to bring up in the ways of the LORD. May we be a blessing to
our children and they to us, and may we journey together into the awesome
promise of life everlasting with you!
