The Reward of Humility
I wish that I had understood the high calling of parenting when I stepped into that role as a young mother. My goal as a parent was to raise my child to be a successful adult. So, I focused on equipping her with skillsets for success. Yet, I lacked so much wisdom myself.  I think that I was too self-focused to understand how impacting my actions as a parent would be upon my child. Did I love unconditionally, support fully, discipline when necessary, and teach the priceless gems of wisdom from God’s word? God gave us amazing principles to live by. So, I am without excuse. Yes, our lives are busy, and distracting and we have our own stuff to deal with. But I am convinced that our children are more valuable than any other pursuit or relationship (besides God and our spouse). And, I believe that parents are the most impacting influence in their child’s life. Dear Father, thank You for the awesome opportunity of being a parent. Help us to train up our children in the way that they should go (verse 6) teaching them Your words so that the ways of wisdom may be ready on their lips (verse 18). And help us to help our children seek a loving and lasting relationship with You – for that is the greatest gift we could possibly ever give to them.
