The
Lord Weighs the Heart
To do righteousness and justice is
desired by the Lord more than sacrifice (verse 3). It is interesting to see how often
righteousness and justice are mentioned together throughout Scripture.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of the LORD’s throne (Psalms
97:2). The LORD exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth,
He delights in these things (Jeremiah 9:23). The LORD loves righteousness and
justice; the earth is full of His unfailing love (Psalms 33:5). The LORD calls His people to “administer true
justice; show mercy and compassion to one another (Zechariah 7:9) and to do
justice, to love kindness and to walk humbly with our God” (Micah 6:8). Dear
Father, please help me to truly love You, to walk humbly with You in
righteousness. Help me to love my neighbor as myself, to show mercy, compassion
and kindness to all. Thank You for the sacrifice of Your Son, whose blood has
paid the penalty for my sin, so that I may walk in righteousness and do justice
and bring glory to Your great name.
