In
the Fear of the Lord
A tranquil (peaceful) heart is life to the body, but passion (envy,
jealousy) is rottenness to the bones (Proverbs 14:30). Our lives are
often too busy and stressful to enjoy tranquility. We have many concerns and
appointments and deadlines and obligations and sometimes the stress can be
overwhelming. Ah – these are the times we need to calm our troubled hearts and
quiet our souls. (Psalms 131) Many years ago I heard the most beautiful
presentation of this Psalm in song… and I found it on YouTube! I absolutely
love this song and it speaks volumes to me. (I have included a link to “Psalm
131” by Stephanie Dawn, for those who wish to listen). Dear Father,
like a baby at its mother’s breast, may we take our rest in the shelter of Your
arms. May we be comforted when darkness falls and strengthened when we are
weak. May we hear you call our names above the raging sea and know that we are
safe with You. Help us to put our trust in You so that we may calm our troubled
hearts and quiet our souls. In Your stillness is where I long to be.
