Levi was not destined to receive a
portion or inheritance with their brothers because the LORD was their
inheritance. (Deuteronomy 10:9, Joshua 13:33) The concept that the LORD is also
our portion is beautifully expressed in the Psalms and in Lamentations. “The
Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.” The Lord is
good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him. It is good that he
waits silently for the salvation of the Lord.” (Lamentations 3:24-26) and “The Lord is the
portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot. The lines have fallen
to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me... You will
make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your
right hand there are pleasures forever.”
(Psalms 16:5-11) Dear Father, “Whom have I in heaven but you? There is nothing on earth that I desire
besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but You, O God are the strength of
my heart and my portion forever.” Psalms (73:25-26)
