Moses was called to bring Israel out
of the land of Egypt, to give the people a law to live by and to lead them
through the wilderness until the time had come for Israel to enter the land of
promise… the land of their inheritance. This is as far as Moses went. After
Moses died the LORD appointed Joshua to bring His people into the Promised Land.
This commission, however, was not an easy one. There would be many battles
still to face. But God encouraged Joshua with these words: “Be strong and courageous!
Do not tremble or be dismayed for the LORD your God is with you wherever you
go.” Those of us who wait in anticipation to enter our promised inheritance -
the Kingdom of God – will also face many battles. (Acts 14:22) So this
encouragement given to Joshua is likewise encouragement for all of us. Dear
Father, thank You for Your encouragement. I need to know that You are with me.
If I know that – I can go forward with confidence. Show me Your face. Let me
hear Your voice. Let me follow Your lead so that I may enter the wonderful
inheritance reserved for your children – and let us forever dwell with You.
