There are two who stand out to me in
this passage – Rahab and Achan. Now Rahab was a citizen of the kingdom of the
enemy, yet she chose to believe and obey God and she and her family were
saved. Achan was a citizen of Israel,
God’s own people, yet he chose to disbelieve and disobey God, thus he and all
his family perished. God gives all of us
the opportunity to believe or disbelieve, obey or disobey, choose life and
blessings or death and curses. The LORD
wants us to choose life so that we and our children will live. (Deuteronomy
30:19) He wants us to reject sin and walk in the spirit. (Galatians 5:16-25) He
is very patient with us – not wanting anyone to perish but everyone come to
repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) Our lives are a journey of choices. Each day is a new day – a new opportunity to
choose life. (Lamentations 3:22-23) Thank you dear Father, that Your mercies
are new every day. You are faithful in
Your love and so very patient. I choose
You, dear Father. Grant me repentance that I may walk in the light. Guide me on
my journey each day so that I will make right choices. Let us who desire and
seek You choose life so that we and our children will live forever with You.
