Numbers 19:1-22:1

Chukat - Law Of

Numbers 19:1-2 Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD has commanded, saying: ‘Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring you a red heifer without blemish, in which there is no defect and on which a yoke has never come.’”

Forty years ago, the children of Israel left Egypt. God had freed them from slavery, but most continued to be bound in their minds. They viewed Egypt as their home and enslavement as their security. In spite of a multitude of miraculous events and provisions, the children of Israel failed to trust in their God who performed them. Instead, they complained against Him. They railed against God each time they experienced hardship. And they grew to disdain the daily bread He provided.  Because they failed to trust God and be grateful for His provisions, they subjected themselves to His wrath. However, God did not discard them. He made a way for them to receive His grace. Just as they received the water of purification and were made clean, and just as they looked upon the serpent on the pole that was lifted up that they might receive forgiveness and life, so are we purified by the living water which is Yeshua, and forgiven when we look upon Him who was lifted up as an offering for our sins that we may receive life. Oh Father, thank You for freeing us from the bondage of sin and making a way for us to be reconciled to You. Thank You for the offering of Your precious Son that we might be forgiven and receive eternal life. May we trust always in You for our peace and security, and may we always be grateful for Your provisions and amazing grace.
