Acts 9-11

The Holy Spirit Fell Upon All Those Who Heard the Word

Acts 10:44-48 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

Peter, and the others, had much to learn (and unlearn) about God's amazing plan for the salvation of mankind. Peter had thought that one must convert to Judaism in order to receive salvation. But the Lord revealed to Peter through a vision, a timely meeting and a miraculous occurrence that it was His plan and intention that the Gentiles, as well as the Jews, be saved. Peter understood that God was showing him that he should call no person undefiled or ritually unclean. He said, "I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism in dealing with people, but in every nation the person who fears Him and does what is right is welcomed before Him." Dear Father, thank You for the precious gift of Your Holy Spirit that You pour out upon all who believe in the Lord Yeshua the Messiah; Jew and Gentile alike. May all who hear the message gladly receive the good news of the Lord Yeshua and turn wholly to You. May we be unified together by Your Spirit and may we remain true with devoted hearts to one another and to You and Your Son forever.
