John 15-17

The True Vine

(Days of Unleavened Bread 2)
John 15:1-4 I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

Yeshua is the vine, we are the branches. If we abide in Him, and He in us, we will bear much fruit. By this, the Father is glorified, that we bear much fruit. Without Yeshua we can do nothing. If we do not abide in Him, we shall wither and die. Then we will be cast out for the fire - and burned. But if we abide in Yeshua and His words abide in us, we may ask what we desire and it shall be done for us. (John 15:5-8) Yeshua said that if we love Him and keep His commandments, He would pray that the Father give us a Helper (the Spirit of truth) that He may abide with us forever. (John 14:15-17) Yeshua prayed that His joy would be fulfilled in His disciples, and we who would believe in Him through their word. Yeshua prayed that we all may be one, as He and the Father are one. "I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me." Dear Father, may we abide always in Yeshua. May we be with Him and behold His glory. And may the love with which You loved Yeshua be also in us. (John 17:21-26) This is eternal life, that we may know the Father, the only true God, and Yeshua the Messiah whom the Father sent. (John 17:3)
