You Are the Christ, the Son of the Living God
After commanding His disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Messiah, Yeshua began to show them that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and raised the third day. The disciples couldn't comprehend what He was saying. Peter rebuked Him and said, "May God be merciful, Lord; this shall not happen to You!" Yeshua scolded Peter and told him that he was not being mindful of the things of God, but of the things of men. He told His disciples that if anyone desired to follow Him, they must deny themselves and take up their own cross. "Whoever desires to save his life will lose it," Yeshua told them, "but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" In his letter to the Corinthians the Apostle Paul explained that our lives are not our own, for we were bought at a price; therefore we must glorify God in our body and in our spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) We are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh, but to be led by the Spirit of God. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. So let us not consider the sufferings of this present time worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us when we are delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. (Romans 8:18-23) O Yehovah, our Father, thank You for Your Son who suffered and died that we may become the children of God. May Your Spirit lead us to glory, and may we bless Your glorious name forever! Amen. (Psalm 72:19)
