“In This Place I Will Give Peace,” Says the LORD of Hosts
"Consider your ways!" The LORD told His people. They were living in paneled houses while the LORD's house remained a ruin. They had busied themselves with creating homes and earning wages so that they could provide for their families, but they had paid little attention to the house of the LORD. Because they hadn't prioritized correctly - they planted much but harvested little; they ate
but never had enough; they put on clothes but were not warm; they earned
wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it. How about us? Are we so busy with our own houses... with daily chores, daily jobs, countless distractions and activities; that we pay too little attention to the most important house of all - the house of God? Does this admonition to "consider your ways" apply also to us? How much energy are we expending into building up the house of God over taking care of our own? Yeshua told His followers not to worry about their day to day needs: what to eat, drink, or wear. "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:31-33) The Apostle Paul wrote that if we have been raised up with Messiah, then let us seek things that are above, where Messiah is, seated at the right hand of God. He told us to set our minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. "For we have died, and our life is hidden with Christ in God. When Messiah who is our life appears, then we also will appear with him in glory." (Colossians 3:1-4) Dear Father, help me to prioritize my life correctly, that I may put You first in my day. For I desire, O LORD, to dwell in Your house all the days of my life to behold Your beauty. (Psalm 27:4) For Your house is a house filled with glory. And in Your house we shall have peace evermore.
