The
Beginning of Knowledge
God created humankind with the
freedom to choose their own path on which they journey through life. Yet He
didn't leave them without the knowledge to make an informed choice. He provided
an instruction manual explaining good from evil and the paths that lead either
to life or to death. Will we choose the path of righteousness that leads to
life, or the path of destruction that leads to death? This choice is really
dependent on whether or not we fear the LORD.
Those who do not fear the LORD and reject His wisdom and counsel will
choose a path apart from the LORD and will arrive at death and destruction. But
those who fear the LORD and choose a path that includes the LORD will arrive at
life everlasting. The Proverbs are amazing pearls of wisdom in God's
instruction manual that teach righteous behavior to those who are seeking God,
but warn about the destructive behavior of those on the wrong path. Dear Father, thank You for the Proverbs. Pour
out Your Spirit on us and make Your words known to us. Help us to learn what is
real, virtuous and lasting and keeps us on the path to life. Help us to
meditate on Your words so that we may grow in Your wisdom. And write them on
our hearts and minds that we may become like You.
