He
Will Judge the Peoples with Equity
“Blessed is the man whom You
chasten, O Lord” (Psalms 94:12). “For whom the Lord loves he chastens and
scourges every son whom he receives” (Hebrews 12:6). Oftentimes, when going
through the trials of life, we feel as though God has abandoned us. But nothing
can be further from the truth. God’s active involvement in our lives is a much
more likely reason for our trials. The Proverbs teach us not to despise the
Lord’s discipline. “…and do not resent His rebuke, because the Lord disciplines
those He loves, as a father the son delights in” (Proverbs 3:11-12). “So, as
obedient children” the apostle Peter wrote, “do not be conformed to the
passions of your former ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also
be holy in all your conduct…knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways
inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or
gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without
blemish or spot” (1 Peter 1:14-19). Dear Father, thank You for Your discipline.
For you reprove and discipline us because you love us. May we thus be zealous
and repent. And may we hear Your voice and open the door to You, so that we may
be among the children who sit with Jesus our Lord and His Father – on His
throne forever.
