My
God, in Whom I Trust
“As for the days of our life, they
contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years… so teach us to
number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom” (Psalms
9:10-12). Ecclesiastes 12:1 teaches us to remember our Creator in the days of
our youth. Psalms 103 describes our physical lives as a flower of the field
that flourishes but a short time. The apostle Paul admonishes the brethren to
“be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of
your time, because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:15-16). God gave us physical
bodies that wear out. And like the flower of the field, our bodies shrivel and
die. Yet, it is the worn-out body bearing the visible battle scars of life, yet
the invisible glorious refinement of the soul, that is the most beautiful and
miraculous of all God’s creations. No one is more beautiful, nor more serene,
than the person who has come to the end of their life knowing that because theirs
was a life well-lived, glory awaits them. In their next waking moment, they
will be welcomed into the everlasting life of the kingdom of God. Dear Father, help us to give mindful attention
to how we live each day so that when we reach the end of our life, we are at
peace and looking forward to the glory that awaits us. How wonderful our hope –
that the end of our physical life is just the beginning of an awesome and glorious
life with You in Your house forevermore!
