Seek
His Face Continually
“Until the time that His word came
to pass, the word of the Lord tested him” (Psalms 105:19). When he was just a
little guy, Joseph had received word from the Lord that he would serve the Lord
in a role of great prominence. But the opposite seemed true as life unfolded. God
allowed Joseph to be sold by his own brothers into slavery. And God allowed Joseph’s
values and integrity to be tested. Joseph maintained his integrity. Yet,
because he had no rights and no way to defend himself, Joseph ended up in
prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Still, Joseph maintained his integrity.
Joseph could have easily turned from God because of the unfair and unjust
treatment he received, but he didn’t. He remained steadfast. And because Joseph
remained steadfast and faithful to God, God was able to lift Joseph up to the
place of prominence He had planned for Joseph. Is the same true for us? Do we
go through the trials of life because God wants us to lift us up into the glory
He has planned for us? The apostle Peter encourages the brethren to greatly
rejoice in life’s trials that test our faith. “…so that the proof of your
faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by
fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of
Jesus Christ; and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do
not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible
and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your
souls” (1 Peter 1:6-9). Dear Father, thank You for testing and proving our
faith in this life so that we may be lifted up into Your glory at the
revelation of Your Son Jesus. We have not seen Him, but we love Him and look
forward to the day when we are united together with Him, and You, and our
brothers and sisters in the faith for all eternity.
