– Holy People
The Lord has called us to be His holy people (Leviticus 19:2). He has called
us to separate ourselves from the world. In Leviticus 19, God’s holy people are
characterized by their deeds of generosity and kindness to the needy and the
stranger, and by their love toward neighbor and love toward God. God’s
holy people observe His statutes and ordinances and they make a distinction
between the clean and the unclean. Confirming this passage in Leviticus 19, the
apostle Peter wrote, “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former
lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you,
be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall
be holy, for I am holy.” Dear Father, may we honor You in every thought, word
and deed. May we be a blessing to the stranger and the needy and may we be an offering of hope to the hopeless. May we fervently love our brothers and sisters from the heart. And dear Father, may we be Your holy people - distinguishing
ourselves as representatives of Your enduring goodness and love.
