Return
to Me
Though His people had a long history
of rejecting His ways, the LORD remained faithful. Yet, the LORD let them
suffer the consequences of their own ways and deeds so that they would call
upon Him and return to Him. The first several chapters of Zechariah seem to speak of
the LORD’s great compassion for His people (who were the apple of His eye) and
His plan for their deliverance, forgiveness, redemption, and reconciliation to their
God. The LORD showed Zechariah visions about Joshua the high priest and Zerubbabel, and that they were a sign of the LORD's servant, the Branch. The LORD said that He would once again choose Jerusalem and dwell within her midst. And many
nations would join themselves to the LORD in that day and become His people. This
will all be accomplished – not by their own power or might, but by the Spirit of the LORD. Dear Father, thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank You for Your compassion. Thank You for Your wonderful plan of redemption and for reconciling us to You through Your Son. How wonderful it will be when the nations of the world become the people of the LORD!
