Inherit the Kingdom Prepared for You
Perhaps it is an okay thing that people throughout the ages have had an expectation that Jesus will soon return. Even the apostles thought that His return was imminent. Jesus taught in His parables that His followers should watch for signs of the times and always be ready. “For you do not know which day your Lord is coming…For this reason, you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.” So, while we anticipate the coming of our Lord, what should we be doing to be prepared? The message I get from His parables is that I should be walking in the way of righteousness, walking in the Spirit, producing good fruit and practicing the golden rule (loving my neighbor as myself). Besides the fact that our lives are so much better in every way when we are doing these things, we also have the assurance that we will hear these words we long to hear, “Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” Dear Father, may we walk in righteousness; may we walk in the Spirit and not the flesh; may we produce the good fruit of the Spirit; and may we love others as ourselves – giving to those in need and sharing with them Your love. What a marvelous day it will be when the Son of Man comes in His glory and receives us into His kingdom!
