Mark 14-16

Watch and Pray
Isn’t it an amazing thing that after everything Jesus told them, the disciples still disbelieved? How could this be? Jesus plainly explained that He would die and that He would be resurrected. Had they ever heard Jesus lie? Hadn’t they seen miracle after impossible miracle performed by Jesus? Yet, when witnesses came to them after the crucifixion and proclaimed that Jesus had risen, the disciples refused to believe. Jesus foretold that all the disciples would fall away and thus probably knew that they would not come to Him to Galilee as He instructed them. So, Jesus went to them. He reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart. And He instructed them to preach the gospel to all creation. “He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned” Jesus said. Jesus did not give up on the disciples. He continued to work with them and “confirmed the word by the signs that followed”. Dear Father, thank You for Your Son. How blessed we are to have a Savior who understands our weaknesses (Hebrews 4:14-16). Thank You for Your faithfulness in continuing to work with us so that we may believe, no matter how impossible our circumstances seem. Thank You for not giving up on us. May we grow in our convictions so that we may witness to the world about the glorious hope we have in Your Son and our future with You forever more.
