Vayikra – He Called
When the priest made atonement for the ones who brought an offering, the offenders were forgiven, and their guilt was absolved. Hebrews chapter 10 explains that their sins were not actually forgiven by the blood of animals, but that this system of sacrifices and atonement looked forward to the time when Jesus would be the offering, and it would be His blood that would forgive and absolve our sins. (Hebrews 10). God’s intention from the beginning, was to create a people whose heart would reflect His own, and so He gave us His instructions in righteousness. But humankind is not able to walk in His righteous ways without the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. Thanks be to God for His Son; whose death and resurrection made the Holy Spirit available to us. And now, our Father is writing His laws in our hearts and minds, so that we might walk in the Spirit and not the flesh (2 Corinthians 3). This is the whole point of walking in righteousness – that we may be the children of God (1 John 3:10). Dear Father, please cleanse and change our hearts. By Your Spirit, make us to walk in Your ways of righteousness. May the fruit of the Spirit dwelling within us transform us into the very image of Your Son; our Messiah and Lord Jesus. And may we be Your children – the children of the Living God who will dwell with You and Your Son forevermore.
