You
Only Have I Chosen
Out of all the peoples on the earth,
the LORD chose Israel to be His own people. He called them to follow in His
ways of righteousness. He established them to shine as a light to the world. But
the people chose instead to walk in the lies of their fathers and thus were led
astray. They rejected His ways and they profaned His Holy name by engaging in
forbidden activities that violated His law. The sins of His people grieved the
LORD. “Behold, I am weighted down beneath you” (Amos 2:13). Yet, because of His
mercy and abounding love, God sent Amos to them to warn them of the destruction
their choices were leading to. Dear Father, thank You for choosing us out of the
world to be Your own people… we who were not a people but are now called the “People
of God”. Thank You for instructing us in the ways of righteousness through the
precious gift of Your Word. May we write Your words on our hearts and minds and
live a life that reflects You. Thank You for Your correction and for never
giving up on us. Thank You for Your faithfulness and Your mercy and Your abounding
love. Thanks be to the God of heaven, for His steadfast love endures forever!
(Psalms 136:26)
