Psalms 110-114

Image may contain: text that says 'DAILY BIBLE READING JOURNAL MAY 24, 2019 Psalms 110-114 Psalms 111:7-9 The The works of His hands are truth and justice; all His précepts are sure. They are upheld forever and ever; they are performed in truth and uprightness He He has has sent sent redemption His people; He has ordained His covenant forever; holy holy and awesome His name.'

He Has Ordained His Covenant Forever
“Who is like the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high, who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in heaven and in the earth? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with the princes of His people. He makes the barren woman abide in the house as a joyful mother of children. Praise the Lord!” (Psalms 113:5-9). Indeed! Who is like the Lord our God? Who is like Jesus our Lord, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men (Philippians 2:5-8). When Jesus came to this earth, He was not among the elite – but among the servants. Thus, as a servant, He was accessible to the needy, the poor, the afflicted, the widow and orphan. He taught His disciples that as His followers they must also possess the heart of a servant. “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:42-45). Dear Father, Help us to have the attitude of a servant. Help us to be a conduit of Your help and service to the needy, the poor, the afflicted, the widow and orphan. And in serving them, may we be serving You, bringing glory and honor to Your great name!
