Decree

Ezra was born in Babylon. His family (from the priestly line of Aaron) had been transported there from Jerusalem in the exile. The son of a priest, Ezra was raised with a knowledge of the words and ways of the LORD. He set his heart to study the law of the Lord and to practice it and he became a scribe skilled in the law of Moses. Thus, the good hand of his God was upon him. And God called Ezra to go to Jerusalem to teach His commandments and statutes and ordinances to the people there. God orchestrated the favor of the Persian king upon Ezra, who gave Ezra everything he asked for to ensure the success of this mission. Because Ezra had set his heart to study and practice the law, he was prepared to fulfill a most important mission for God. Because Ezra had set his heart to follow the LORD, the good hand of his God was upon him. And it was this good hand of God that moved the mountains to make this mission possible and successful. Dear Father, help me to set my heart on You, to seek You and practice Your ways so that I may be prepared for any mission You choose for me. Please make clear the mission and the tools I need to accomplish it. Please give me desire for the mission and the patience and wisdom to complete it.  And please, Father, let Your good hand be upon me and all Your children who seek You so that the missions You call us to will glorify Your great name and bring honor to You.
